Matukewicz hired as head wrestling coach at Penn State Schuylkill

John Cooper, director of athletics at Penn State Schuylkill, has announced the hiring of Brett Matukewicz as head coach of the new men’s wrestling program.

Matukewicz is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown, were he majored in sports management and communications.

Coach Matukewicz spent two years as an assistant coach at Pottsville Area High School, coached four regional qualifiers, and helped coach the Crimson Tide to its first win in District Dual history. He also coached three freestyle state champions at the University Freestyle level.

“I would like to thank the administration at Penn State Schuylkill for giving me the opportunity to be their inaugural coach,” Matukewicz said. “It is going to be an exciting journey to coach in the best wrestling state in the country.”

The team will compete as a varsity sport in the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) beginning in fall 2015.
