Engineering ranked 25th in U.S. News graduate rankings

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The College of Engineering graduate program was ranked 25th in the country by U.S. News & World Report in its Best Graduate Schools 2016 edition.

The report, released today (March 10), surveyed 215 graduate programs across the country with 196 responding.

Under the publication's specialty categories, five Penn State engineering programs improved since last year's report, including industrial engineering, which is now in the top 10. Nuclear engineering's ranking remained unchanged.

The full speciality category rankings are as follows: Penn State aerospace engineering was ranked 16th, biological engineering 11th, biomedical 36th, chemical engineering 21st, civil engineering 21st, computer engineering 31st, electrical engineering 32nd, environmental engineering 20th, industrial engineering 10th, materials 13th, mechanical engineering 16th and nuclear engineering 5th.

U.S. News does not survey the disciplines of architectural engineering, and engineering science and mechanics. Computer science is ranked every four years.

Penn State's online engineering program through World Campus was ranked 5th.
