Search on for Office of Planning and Institutional Assessment executive director

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State is conducting a national search for the next executive director of the Office of Planning and Institutional Assessment (OPIA).Michael Dooris, the executive director since 2011, will retire March 31.The position reports to the executive vice president and provost of the University. The executive director is responsible for leading services designed to promote strategic planning, continuous improvement and institutional assessment through effective data analysis, consulting and facilitation services. The educational component of the unit provides education and training for planning, improvement and assessment, and works collaboratively with other development services and units at the University as needed. OPIA also provides customized programming as requested. Data and institutional research services to support University-level initiatives and provide strategic indicators constitute a pivotal role of this unit. Analysis that the unit provides is used to support and enhance benchmarking and evaluation of key indicators and strategic planning initiatives.Candidates are expected to hold an advanced degree, preferably a doctorate. Other requirements are a demonstrated track record in collaborative relationship building; delivery of high quality programs and services; management of large-scale projects and institutional initiatives; and the ability to develop, mentor and lead staff. In addition to excellent oral and written communication skills, a demonstrated decision-making style with reliance on qualitative and quantitative information is necessary.
