Tree removals will impact campus traffic, bus routes week of March 9

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Several tree removal projects will impact campus traffic and transit from Monday, March 9, through Thursday, March 12.

Monday

Allen Street will be closed from Park Avenue to Fischer Road on March 9. Access to the Nittany Parking Deck, Lot Green B, the Nittany Lion Inn overnight guest lot, and Lot Green H will remain available from Fischer Road via Park Avenue (eastbound traffic only) and by traveling north on Allen Road from Curtin Road.

As a result of this closure, several Centre Area Transportation Authority (CATA) routes may be affected. CATA's A (Park Forest Village) and G (Stormstown) routes will experience slight detours while traveling on campus Monday. For the duration of the detour, there will be no inbound service to the Nittany Lion Inn, Ford Building, or Chamber Building bus stops. There will be no outbound service to the Music Building. Riders are encouraged to board and deboard the bus at the Pattee Transit Center.

Tuesday

Northbound traffic on Atherton Street between Curtin Road and Park Avenue will be restricted to one lane on Tuesday, March 10, but there will be no impacts to parking or transit.

Wednesday

Park Avenue will be closed from Allen Road to Shortlidge Road on Wednesday, March 11.  Though there will be no impacts to campus transit, the Green G parking spaces located along Park Avenue near Beam Hall will be unavailable on Wednesday.

Thursday

Allen Street will be closed from Curtin Road to the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center service driveway on March 12. Access to the Nittany Parking Deck, Lot Green B, the Nittany Lion Inn overnight guest lot, and Lot Green H will remain available by traveling south on Allen Road from Park Avenue and from Fischer Road via Park Avenue (eastbound traffic only).

CATA’s A (Park Forest Village) and G (Stormstown) Routes will experience slight detours while traveling on campus Thursday. For the duration of the detour, there will be no inbound service to the Nittany Lion Inn, Ford Building, or Chamber Building bus stops. There will be no outbound service to the Music Building. Riders are instead encouraged to board and deboard the bus at the Pattee Transit Center.
