Penn State Athletics to sponsor Athlete Well-Being Summit in April

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics will co-sponsor the Athlete Well-Being Summit from April 23 to 25 on campus. The event will kick off with a free community event Thursday, April 23, in Rec Hall.

The conference is designed to identify best practices and other solutions to the physical, social, psychological and educational risks faced by athletes.

The Athlete Well-Being Summit is co-sponsored by U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, the College of Health and Human Development, and Penn State Athletics.

The summit will be held at The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel and include various breakout sessions, including keynote speakers Jim Delany, the commissioner of the Big Ten Conference, and former Penn State standout and NBA player John Amaechi.

The April 23 event, TrueSport U: Becoming a TrueSport Family, will feature an appearance by Nittany Lion football coach James Franklin, U.S. Olympic Team swimmer Peter Vanderkaay and other guests, including additional Penn State coaches and student-athletes.

Open to all parents, children, coaches and administrators from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., the evening will focus on how to build a true sports culture, select the right programs for children, maintain a sport-life balance and more.
