UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State Athletics today (Feb. 25) announced the variable prices for its single game public football tickets during the 2015 season. The upcoming campaign will include three games early in the season priced as low as $40.

Introduced last year by Penn State, variable pricing determines individual game prices from many factors, including the expected demand for that game and provides more pricing choices for Nittany Lion fans. Season tickets, which are on sale for the 2015 campaign, remain the best value for Penn State fans for the seven-game home schedule, with savings as high as 15 percent.

Single game tickets will go on sale to the general public in July for head coach James Franklin’s second season. Tickets will be available for as low as $40 for three of the first five games in Beaver Stadium this fall. For a full list of prices by section for the 2015 season, fans can log onto www.gopsusports.com/tickets/m-footbl-tickets.html.

“In the first year of variable pricing, the response from our fans was enthusiastically positive,” said Jeff Garner, assistant athletic director for ticketing sales and service. “Fans had many price options available to them and while season tickets remain the best value at Beaver Stadium, our single game ticket pricing gives fans more control of their experience.”

Following the Sept. 5 season opener at Temple, Penn State will have five consecutive home games, including Big Ten contests against Rutgers (Sept. 19) and Indiana (Oct. 10-Homecoming). Tickets for the other three contests in the homestand will be priced as low as $40 – the Sept. 12 home opener vs. Buffalo; Sept. 26 vs. San Diego State and Oct. 3 vs. Army, as the Black Knights visit Happy Valley for the first time since 1979.

“Again for this season, we focused on fan feedback, the Nittany Lion TicketExchange, other secondary markets and our fans’ purchasing behavior to provide the best mix of value and choice,” Garner said. “In an effort to be sensitive to our schedule, we are offering three of the first five games at our lowest possible ticket price. We know our fans must commit time, resources and effort to attending a Penn State weekend and variable pricing allows us to respond accordingly.”

Variable pricing is common throughout ticketed sporting events and is used for home football games at several Big Ten institutions, including Ohio State, Wisconsin, Iowa and Maryland.

Single game ticket prices for Nittany Lion Club members will be released in the next several days. Variable pricing does not affect Nittany Lion Club donations. Nittany Lion Club members are able to purchase discounted tickets and have priority access to buy single game tickets before the general public.

Fans with any questions about the new variable pricing system should refer to the FAQ page or contact 800-NITTANY, weekdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Penn State returns 15 starters (seven offense, seven defense, one specialist) and 14 additional players who have started for the 2015 season. The Blue-White Game is set for April 18 in Beaver Stadium at 4 p.m.
