Penn State Lehigh Valley THON team raises more than $44K toward overall total

During the weekend of Feb. 20-22, three Lehigh Valley students joined hundreds of other Penn State students in the 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon known as THON to raise money for the fight against pediatric cancer.

Lehigh Valley was represented by dancers Austin Boccardi, Amanda McGee and Janelle Placencia.

Through their yearlong efforts, the Penn State Lehigh Valley team raised $44,449.48. The Lehigh Valley total was the sixth highest out of Penn State's 19 Commonwealth Campuses. In total, THON raised more than $13 million for the Four Diamonds Fund.

Penn State Lehigh Valley Benefiting THON achieved their impressive total through a mixture of fundraising activities including a Mr. Lehigh Valley pageant, silent auction and canning drives throughout the community.
