Panel discussion with President Eric Barron and EMS alumni

Penn State President Eric Barron joined the Penn State Alumni Association to host an engaging alumni-focused gathering on Wednesday Feb. 11 in Houston at the Four Seasons Hotel Houston. The event started with breakfast hosted by Barron and his wife Molly and was followed by a panel discussion with the Penn State president and alumni from the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences titled “How Will Current and Likely Future Trends Change the Energy Industry?” William Easterling, dean of the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences, served as moderator.

Alumni panelists included:

-- Patrick Blough, vice president of gas commercialization, Chevron Gas and Midstream

-- Mark Clemans, president and chief executive officer and an original founder, Carrier Energy Partners

-- Shelly Corman, executive vice president, Energy Transfer Partners

-- David Stover, president and chief executive officer, Noble Energy

-- James Whipkey, co-founder, co-chief executive officer, and director, Hi-Crush Partners LP

This winter’s events for alumni and friends started on Feb. 9 in Dallas and will conclude on Feb. 26 in Boca Raton, Florida. On March 3, he will join the Penn State Alumni Association in Philadelphia to host the ninth annual President’s Concert at the Kimmel Center.
