WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Four seniors enrolled in graphic design at Pennsylvania College of Technology and three graphic design alumni recently earned recognition in the American Graphic Design & Advertising awards, a national competition recognizing excellence in design by professionals and students.
Penn College students receiving Awards of Distinction in AGDA’s 29th awards year are Mark R. Barone, of New Freedom, for his “In The Red” magazine feature in the category of Publication Design; Zachary G. Bird, South Williamsport, for “Arsenic & Old Lace” in Posters; Erica M. Hoover, Milton, for her “Chocolate Dipped Fortune Cookies” in Packaging; and Alexa A. Januchowski, Montoursville, for two designs in Posters: “Romeo & Juliet” and “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.”
Three alumni honored for their creations with Awards of Distinction were Stephen W. Houseknecht, of Montoursville, for his “Lunacy Film Festival” logo in Logos & Trademarks; Brenna C. Richner, Hamburg, for her “Lucky Break Lanes” logo in Logos & Trademarks; and Erin M. Schlesinger, Lock Haven, for two designs in Stationery Package: “5 Little Monkeys” and “Fitness Factory.” All three graduated in May 2014. Richner’s logo was also a finalist for the Best of Category Award.
All winning work will be featured in a full-color, hardcover book. An online version of the publication will be posted.
