Smeal Alumni Society Board unveils 2015 award winners

The Penn State Smeal College of Business Alumni Society Board has announced its 2015 Alumni Society Board award winners. Six alumni and two students will be recognized on March 20 at the 2015 Awards Program and Hammond Society Recognition Dinner.

The awards and the 2015 recipients are as follows:

Alumni Diversity AwardS. Thompson Harner, 2003 accounting, international business and FrenchThe Smeal Board Alumni Diversity Award honors an alumnus who has demonstrated a commitment to the college’s goal of being a diverse and mutually supportive community that provides a climate of sensitivity, open-mindedness, and respect.

Alumni Service AwardKrishna C. Nadella, 2004 master of business administrationThe Smeal Board Alumni Service Award honors an alumnus whose exceptional allegiance and involvement with Smeal has brought distinction to the college and the University.

Board Sponsorship AwardRachel Wolfheimer, 2015 managementThe Smeal Board Sponsorship Award honors a Smeal graduating senior for demonstrating outstanding leadership and scholarship.

Graduate Distinguished Achievement AwardWilliam T. Simon, 1989 marketing, 1994 master of business administrationThe Smeal Board Graduate Distinguished Achievement Award honors a graduate alumnus whose career achievements have brought distinction to themselves and the college, and whose commitments of time, talent, or resources have been key to enhancing the prestige of the college.

Outstanding Young Alumnus AwardZackary J. Koslap, 2008 marketingThe Smeal Board Outstanding Young Alumnus Award recognizes recent graduates for their career achievements and community service.

Student Diversity AwardKenneth A. Allen II, 2015 risk managementThe Smeal Board Student Diversity Award recognizes Smeal students for leadership in an individual group project that furthers diversity efforts at Smeal.

Undergraduate Distinguished Achievement Award Jon Grosso, 1989 managementThe Undergraduate Distinguished Achievement Award honors undergraduate alumni whose career achievements have brought distinction to themselves and the college, and whose commitments of time, talent, or resources have been key to enhancing the prestige of the college.

Outstanding Volunteer Award Ronald E. Sloan, 1970 accounting The Smeal Board Outstanding Volunteer Award honors alumni who serve as a volunteer with the Smeal Alumni Society Board and who volunteer to assist the college in other capacities such as mentoring and recruiting.

Michael Q. McGowan Memorial Award for Community ServiceAaron C. White, 2016 financeThe Michael Q. McGowan Memorial Award for Community Service Award honors a Smeal sophomore or junior who has demonstrated outstanding community service to Penn State or to their hometown community. The award is given in honor of the nephew of a Smeal alumnus who loved Penn State.
