Penn State Hershey to observe American Heart Month

Penn State Hershey Medical Center has several events planned for February in observation of American Heart Month.

  • With about 8 million women in the United States currently living with heart disease, it’s safe to say that almost everyone knows a woman in their life — a mother, friend, sister, grandmother, aunt — who has been affected. To show support for women’s heart health, Penn State Hershey Heart and Vascular Institute encourages everyone to wear red on National Wear Red Day on Friday, Feb. 6.
  • Penn State Hershey Heart and Vascular Institute is teaming up with the American Heart Association and the Hershey Bears for the Go Red Night at the hockey game on Feb. 8. Before and during the game, fans will be encouraged to visit table displays set up throughout the concourse to learn more about risk factors for heart disease and opportunities to control and reduce those risk factors. A special Go Red photo booth also will be available, allowing fans to take and share their best “Go Red” photos.
  • Tune in to WHTM-TV abc27 at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26 to watch Heart to Heart, a live call-in program featuring the dynamic stories of two local men and their diagnosis and treatment for heart disease and experiences at Penn State Hershey Heart and Vascular Institute. During the program, Penn State Hershey specialists will be available for viewers to submit their questions regarding heart and vascular disease.
