Be the Difference! poster campaign meant to combat bias

The Office of the Vice Provost for Educational Equity recently unveiled the Be the Difference! poster now on display throughout the University. Unlike the previous poster campaign, Respect Comes Full Circle with images of diversity promoting cultural awareness and inclusiveness at Penn State, the new design serves as a resource making important information more visible to those seeking a vehicle to report a bias incident.

In addition to the replacement of the word "hate" with "bias," the objective of the new poster design is very clear in utility that it serve a meaningful purpose by visually illustrating a stop to bias and a mechanism in which to report it. This is illustrated in the design to visually suggest a stop sign as a backdrop that incorporates hurtful and offensive words.

Using a very simple approach, the goal was to be specific in drawing attention to very sensitive issues using a strikingly bold graphic, which is universally accepted.
