Alumnus joins team in College of Communications

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- A Penn State alumnus who earned his degree in journalism has joined the College of Communications as a member of its strategic communications team.

Trey Miller, who previously worked for Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics and Rutgers University, will focus on social media and related endeavors. He most recently served as assistant director of athletic communications at Penn State. Before that, he was assistant director of athletic communications at Rutgers.

Miller, 24, graduated from Penn State in 2012 as a Dean’s List student. During his time on campus he completed a communications internship with Intercollegiate Athletics and authored a sports story that was voted the best in the nation as part of the annual William Randolph Hearst Foundation’s Journalism Awards Program, often referred to as “the Pulitzers of college journalism.”

The College of Communications has nearly 15,000 social media connections across Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, and Miller has been tasked to enhance and engage those audiences while growing the overall social media presence. At the same time, he will be relied on heavily for day-to-day communications duties and special events.

The College’s key social media platforms can be found at “Penn State College of Communications” on Facebook, “Penn State College of Communications Alumni” on LinkedIn and @PSUCollegeComm on Twitter.
