Lecture, workshop to kick off celebration of new office

The new Office of Inter-Professional Collaborative Education and Teamwork kick-off celebration will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec.10, at the University Conference Center on the Penn State Hershey campus.

Dr. Alan Dow, assistant vice president of health sciences for inter-professional education and collaborative care at Virginia Commonwealth University, is keynote speaker and will present “Education for the New Healthcare Team.” Immediately following the lecture, Dow will present his workshop, “Defining Inter-professional Competencies for Graduating Students.”

The mission of the Office of Inter-Professional Collaborative Education and Teamwork is to prepare health professional graduates to provide care by working across disciplines and with patients to acknowledge and respect the values and roles of all team members, emphasize effective communication and employ team-based principles to deliver patient- and population-centered care that is safe, efficient, effective and equitable.
