Board votes to postpone action on resolution involving NCAA emails

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa -- Near the end of today's (Nov. 14) Board of Trustees meeting, a proposal to address information in emails made public over the last two weeks related to Sen. Jake Corman's litigation involving the NCAA was tabled by a 14-10 vote. The board will address the resolution, introduced by trustee Anthony Lubrano, with legal counsel in an executive session tied to its January 2015 meeting.

The resolution read, in part, "that the board hereby authorized and instructs the University counsel to file an appropriate motion in the Commonwealth court seeking to realign Penn State as a plaintiff in the above reference civil action" and "instructs the University's counsel to pursue discovery in that civil action directed to a full understanding of the NCAA's jurisdiction and tactics in imposing sanctions on the University, and a full understanding of the NCAA's involvement in the Freeh Group's investigation.”
