Additional security planned for Nov. 14 board meeting

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State Police announced that additional security for Friday’s (Nov. 14) Board of Trustees meeting will be in place and they urge individuals attending the 1:30 p.m. meeting at the Penn Stater Conference Center and Hotel to leave any large bags, backpacks or oversized handbags at home or in their automobiles.

The added police presence and additional security are the result of several threats that were received by officials related to the November board meeting. Board leadership also feels additional police presence is needed to maintain appropriate decorum at the meeting so that the necessary business of the board can be completed without disruption.

Anyone attending the meeting with a bag or backpack will be asked to either exit the building or will have their bag searched. Media attending the meeting also must go through a security check point at the entrance to President’s Hall, where the meeting is being held. Please be aware that entry may be delayed.
