Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence to offer workshops on improving labs

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence will present two sessions of Leading Successful Lab Sessions from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, in Room 315 Rider Building and from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p. m., Thursday, Nov. 20, in Room 201 Chambers Building.

Labs are an important and unique teaching context, and leading them requires resolving many challenges. Teachers may ask: How can I make sure students are prepared for the lab? What if groups aren’t functioning well? What if my students are at many different levels of engagement or understanding?

Research associate and instructional consultants Chas Brua and Larkin Hood, and graduate consultants Whitney Zimmerman and Stephen Van Wert will instruct on how to promote learning in labs.

To sign up for the Nov. 19 session, visit the registration site.
