Berks to celebrate Veterans Day

Penn State Berks will host a Veterans Day program at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, in the Perkins Student Center Multipurpose Room. This event is free and open to the campus community, and includes dinner. Attendees must respond to Joe Webb via email at JJW26@psu.edu no later than Thursday, Nov. 6.

The program will begin with a welcome by Chancellor Keith Hillkirk, followed by the Berks Choir performing the national anthem, "The Armed Forces Compilation" and "I Wish You Peace." The keynote speaker will be Bruce Kauffman, Army veteran and Penn State Berks alumnus. In addition, special recognition will be given to the Student Veterans of America Penn State Berks Officers. Dinner will be served following the program.

“Veterans Day is an opportunity for the entire Penn State Berks community to pay tribute to our outstanding veteran students and to all veterans who have served our country with such honor,” stated Webb, director of student support services. “Our veteran students make Penn State Berks a better place and they symbolize the tremendous contribution that veterans have made to our nation.”

Penn State Berks was recently awarded “military friendly” designation due to its commitment to serving veterans. The campus received the designation of 2015 Military Friendly School from Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs magazine.

The Office of Student Support Services welcomes person with disabilities. If you need assistance or have any questions, contact Webb at 610-396-6072.
