UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Council on Engaged Scholarship is seeking presentation proposals from undergraduate students for its Engaged Scholarship Expo. Proposals for the Nov. 17 event, which will be held in Heritage Hall of the HUB-Robeson Center on the University Park campus, are due by Oct. 30.

Engaged Scholarship is defined as out-of-classroom academic experiences that complement classroom learning. Presentations should answer the question, "How have you taken your education beyond the classroom?"

"There are lots of ways students are doing this. Maybe you scored an awesome internship, traveled the world during study abroad, or made groundbreaking progress through research. If so, you’ve had an engaged scholarship experience, and we want to hear about it," said Careen Yarnal, associate professor in the department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Management and co-lead of the Council on Engaged Scholarship.

Presentations will be given in a lightning format. That is, they will be quick and engaging, lasting no more than five minutes, with several presentations planned during the expo.

Those whose proposals are selected will showcase their experience along with other students at the upcoming Engaged Scholarship Expo in November.

To submit a proposal by the Oct. 30 deadline, visit http://www.engagedscholarship.psu.edu/events online.
