Great Valley hosts statistical symposium Oct. 17

Annually since 1999, John I. McCool, Distinguished Professor of Systems Engineering, has worked with the Philadelphia Section of the American Society of Quality (ASQ) to host a half day Statistical Symposium. The symposium is devoted to sharing information regarding the role of statistical methodology in implementing programs to improve quality. This year’s program will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 17 at Penn State Great Valley. The cost is $35 and includes a continental breakfast.

The format is a plenary keynote address followed by two parallel sessions with two presentations in each. The keynote speaker is James Lucas of Lucas Associates who will detail the "History of a Research Project."

Session I, "Interpreting Experiments," will feature presentations by Jennifer H. Van Mullekom, senior consulting statistician at DuPont, and Russell Barton, professor in the Penn State Smeal College of Business.

Session II, "Quality Basics," will include a presentation by Michelle Paret of Minitab Inc. and a workshop delivered by Chris Connors of PriceWaterhouseCooper and Carl Vogel of Johnson Matthey.
