UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Pegula Ice Arena, in conjunction with the Centre County Curling Club and USA Curling, will host a free Learn to Curl event at the facility Saturday, Oct. 4 from 2:30-4:30 p.m.

The organizations are partnering with the arena to showcase the sport and to provide an opportunity for the community to get involved with and learn the game. USA Curling has been an active member in the planning process as the sport will make its way to Pegula Ice Arena for the first time.

“Ever since I first saw curling during the 2006 Olympic Winter Games, I’ve wanted to bring it to Penn State,” said Chris Brida, president of the Centre County Curling Club.

“This event marks a tremendous opportunity to expand the sport in Central Pennsylvania,” added Gwen Krailo-Lyone, USA Curling board member. “We’re thrilled to support the event.”

The event is free of charge and will include an overview of the sport, as well as multiple on-ice, technique-learning stations. Interested participants are asked to enter the Pegula Ice Arena through the Gate C Community Rink entrance on the south side of the arena.
