Graduate student Ye Zhang wins best paper award at computer security conference

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Ye Zhang, a graduate student in computer science and engineering, won a best paper award at the European Symposium on Research in Computer Security (ESORICS) held Sept. 7 to 11 in Wroclaw, Poland.

His paper, titled, "Identity-Based Encryption with Post-Challenge Auxiliary Inputs for Secure Cloud Applications," was co-authored with collaborators in Hong Kong and Singapore.

Zhang works on modeling and designing cryptographic protocols that are "leakage-resilient," meaning that they remain secure even when part of the secret key is leaked to an attacker.

He is advised by Adam Smith, associate professor of computer science and engineering.

Established in 1990, ESORICS aims to further the progress of research in computer security by bringing together researchers in this area, promoting the exchange of ideas with system developers and encouraging links with researchers in related areas.
