Flutist Seidman, pianist Guzman to perform Oct. 4

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State flute professor Naomi Seidman, joined by faculty pianist Christopher Guzman, will present a recital at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, in Esber Recital Hall. The performance will feature a four-movement work for solo flute written by Vanraj Bhatia, one of India’s most eminent composers. Bhatia, whose compositional background includes classical Indian ragas as well as study at London’s Royal Academy of Music and the Paris Conservatoire, utilizes elements of Indian flute folk music played by young boys in the night markets of Delhi. Free Admission.

The performers will repeat parts of the recital in a tour of Texas universities Oct. 23 to 28, including appearances at Baylor University and University of Texas-Austin.
