UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Aspen Santa Fe Ballet -- with its contemporary vision, global choreographers, groundbreaking works and virtuoso dancers -- introduces its modern pioneering spirit to central Pennsylvanians in its Penn State debut at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, in Eisenhower Auditorium.

Exuding a European aesthetic charged with American vigor, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet’s program features three dances commissioned by the troupe. “Over Glow,” choreographed by Jorma Elo, moves to music by Mendelssohn and Beethoven. “Square None,” choreographed by Norbert De La Cruz III, includes music by Handel, Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto. “Beautiful Mistake,” choreographed by Cayetano Soto, features music by Ólafur Arnalds and Charles Wilson.

Tickets for the Center for the Performing presentation are $38 for an adult, $17 for a University Park student, and $28 for a person 18 and younger. Buy tickets online or by phone at 814-863-0255. Outside the calling area, dial 800-ARTS-TIX. Tickets are also available at four State College locations: Eisenhower Auditorium (weekdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.), Penn State Downtown Theatre Center (weekdays 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.), HUB-Robeson Center Information Desk (weekdays 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.) and Bryce Jordan Center (weekdays 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.). A grant from the University Park Allocation Committee makes Penn State student prices possible.

The company, based in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and on the southwestern plateau of New Mexico, has shaped the cultural landscape of two cities and influenced the dance field at large for more than two decades. A commitment to curating new works, while cultivating the talents of choreographers from across the globe, has resulted in a catalog of adventurous repertoire.

Aspen Santa Fe has made repeat appearances at leading venues, such as the American Dance Festival, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, New York City’s Joyce Theater and the Kennedy Center. International tours have taken the dancers to France, Italy, Greece, Russia, Israel, Brazil, Guatemala and Canada.

Artistic Viewpoints, an informal moderated discussion featuring Aspen Santa Fe Ballet Executive Director Jean-Philippe Malaty, is offered in Eisenhower one hour before the performance and is free to ticket holders.

Audio description, which is especially helpful to patrons with sight loss, is available for this performance at no extra charge to ticket holders.
