Film 'Bag It' investigates environmental issues in your grocery bag

Can the impact of a plastic grocery bag reach all the way to the ocean? Filmmakers examine the environmental impact of plastics in the film "Bag It." A free public screening of the film is slated from noon until 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 29, in the Hiller Auditorium at Penn State DuBois.

"Bag It" focuses on the politics of bags, single-use disposables, waste and recycling and the impact these items have on the environment and the health of our oceans. Filmmakers assert that American's use 60,000 plastic bags every five minutes. "Bag It" follows Jeb Berrier as he takes a closer look at the use of plastic, and its impact. The film also provides alternatives to using disposable products such as shopping bags, bottled water, food containers, and more.

Since its premiere in 2010, over 1,000 festivals, nonprofits, theaters, churches and community organizations have hosted screenings of "Bag It" around the world.

This screening is hosted by the Penn State DuBois Green Team.
