Penn State-Massachusetts game set for 4 p.m. kick

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State's Sept. 20 Band Day game with Massachusetts is set for a 4 p.m. kick in Beaver Stadium, the Nittany Lions' seventh announced start time for the 2014 season.

The Nittany Lions and Minutemen will be meeting for the first time time. BTN will televise the game to a national audience. The contest also will air on the Penn State Sports Network and www.GoPSUsports.com.

Throughout the 2014-15 academic year, Penn State will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of Women’s Athletics on the University Park campus. Some of Penn State’s current and former head coaches and student-athletes will be recognized for their accomplishments during the past 50 years of varsity women’s sports.

Penn State Athletics and the Penn State Marching Blue Band will host the Unrivaled Band Jam, which will highlight Band Day activities at the Massachusetts game. Several high school bands will perform with the storied Blue Band and the UMass Minuteman Marching Band pre-game in the Bryce Jordan Center.

The Unrivaled Band Jam will begin at 2 p.m. in the Jordan Center. There is no admission fee.

Coach James Franklin’s Nittany Lions moved to 2-0 last Saturday with a 21-3 win over Akron. Penn State begins Big Ten Conference play this Saturday at Rutgers in the opening game of the Big Ten’s 119th season. The game will kick at 8 p.m. and air on BTN, the Penn State Sports Network and www.GoPSUsports.com.

Penn State’s Sept. 27 Homecoming game vs. Northwestern will kick at noon. The Nittany Lions’ Oct. 11 game at Michigan will kick at 7 p.m. and the Oct. 25 game vs. Ohio State will begin at 8 p.m. in Beaver Stadium. A Penn State White Out is set for the clash vs. the Buckeyes.

The remaining Penn State kick times and TV information will occur within the Big Ten’s six- or 12-day selection process.

Every Penn State football game has been televised the past 10 seasons and 241 of the last 243 contests overall have been on TV. All Penn State football, and men’s and women’s basketball games air on the Penn State Sports Network and www.GoPSUsports.com.

Penn State football season, single game and group single game tickets are available. More than 6,000 new season, 1,100 partial season and 55,000 single game tickets have been sold for the 2014 season.
