University Faculty Senate releases agenda for Sept. 9 meeting

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The University Faculty Senate will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, in 112 Kern Graduate Building. The items below will be considered at the meeting.

The Senate will consider a resolution to honor the late Vice Provost for Educational Equity W. Terrell Jones. Also considered will be a response to Pennsylvania State Senate Bill 1240 from Senate Council.

Regis Becker, chief ethics and compliance officer, will lead two forensic discussions: Forensic Report on Proposed AD 88 and AD86, and Forensic Report on Penn State Values and the Pennsylvania State University Values and Culture Survey.

A vote will be taken on a motion on faculty contracts which was presented at the April 29 Senate meeting. Votes will also be taken on revisions to Senate Policy 54-00 and all related Senate policies including Academic Warning, Drop Action, and Reinstatement; revisions to the Bylaws with regard to implementing the Recommendations on Structure and Organization of the University Faculty Senate; revisions to the Standing Rules with regard to Reporting of Senate Election Results; and revisions to the Standing Rules with regard to adding a new Committee on Athletics Searches. A vote will also be taken on one advisory/consultative report from the Committee on Faculty Affairs, Recommendations Regarding AD14 Administrative Reviews.

Informational reports will be presented on the Pennsylvania State University Academic Integrity Violation Report, and Initiatives at Penn State to Address Alcohol Issues among Students. Reports appearing in the agenda only and posted on the University Faculty Senate website include the Committee on Faculty Rights and Responsibilities’ Annual Report for 2013-14 and the Committee on Intercollegiate Athletics’ Annual Report of Academic Eligibility and Athletic Scholarships for 2013-14. Senators with questions about these reports may send their questions to senate@psu.edu and they will receive a response from the appropriate committee chair.
