Penn State Lehigh Valley employee retires after 26 years

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Donna Hahn, staff assistant in the University Relations department, retired from Penn State Lehigh Valley on Aug. 29 after 26 years of service.

Hahn, of Orefield, began working part time at the former Penn State Allentown campus in Fogelsville in 1988. Her duties included, as she humorously noted at her retirement celebration, "lots of typing … on an actual typewriter." In 1991, she accepted a full-time staff assistant position in University Relations where she provided exemplary service until her retirement.

Hahn was a dedicated member of the campus' Women's Commission and was the 2009 recipient of the Penn State Lehigh Valley Outstanding Staff Member award.

More than 60 campus faculty, staff and retirees, as well as family and friends, gathered in Centre Hall on Aug. 21 to celebrate her service to Penn State Lehigh Valley and to wish her well in her retirement. Hahn looks forward to traveling with husband, Larry, and spending time with grandkids Chase and Tighe.
