Penn State Behrend to offer retirement-planning workshops

Sept. 17 programs will discuss trusts and wealth transfer

ERIE, Pa. -- The office of Development and Alumni Relations at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, will present two workshops on retirement planning on Wednesday, Sept. 17. The two-hour programs, which will begin at 3 and 6 p.m., will be held in McGarvey Commons, in the Reed Union Building.

Thomas C. Hoffman II, an attorney at Knox McLaughlin Gornall & Sennett, will discuss “Shaping Your Family’s Future with Estate Planning: Wills, Trusts and Other Tools.” Hoffman, a member of Penn State’s Planned Giving Advisory Council and the Penn State Behrend Council of Fellows, will explain how to use wills, revocable trusts and power-of-attorney measures to develop family estate plans. He also will discuss trust and charitable legacy planning.

Domini Allison, an associate wealth planner at PNC Wealth Management, will discuss “Your Retirement Years: Keeping ‘Em Golden.” Her program will help participants navigate the financial planning options that are available for retirement.

Allison, an alumna of Penn State Behrend, previously worked as a financial advisor for USAA, providing retirement advice to members of the U.S. military and their families. Her program at Penn State Behrend will show how best to turn assets into cash flow, using distributions while maximizing Social Security benefits.

Both programs are being offered at no charge to the public. Advance registration is requested; to sign up, or to receive additional information, please contact Sharon Zimmerman at (814) 898-6089 or sus5@psu.edu by Friday, Sept. 12.
