Penn State Thespians holding auditions

Once again, the Penn State Thespians is planning to bring two more programs to the stage: the fall main stage production of "Catch Me If You Can" and a children's theater production at Schlow Library of "Amelia Bedelia.”

The Penn State Thespians, the longest continuous running student organization on campus, works to present various types of productions for Penn State students, faculty, and even the State College community. Last year the Penn State Thespians sold out “Chicago” and wowed audiences with “In the Heights.”

Auditions for “Catch Me If You Can” will be held Aug. 27-29 from 6 to 9 p.m. in 220 Willard Building, and a general meeting for the group is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Aug. 31 in 276 Willard.

Based on the hit film and incredible true story, “Catch Me If You Can” is the high-flying musical about chasing our dreams and not getting caught. Seeing fame and fortune, Frank Abignale Jr. runs away from home with nothing more than his boyish charm and a big imagination. These skills enable him to successfully pose as a pilot, doctor, and lawyer while accumulating millions of dollars in forged checks and winning the girl of his dreams. But when Frank's lies catch the attention of FBI agent Carl Hanratty, Carl pursues Frank across the country and the world to make him pay for his crimes.

“Catch Me If You Can” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 9 and 10 at in Schwab Auditorium and 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Oct. 11. “Amelia Bedelia” will be performed on Dec. 6 and 7 in Schlow Library.
