Vending machines in University Libraries now offer school supplies

Pens, pencils, jump drives, headphones among the items available

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Two supply vending machines have been installed in the University Libraries, ready for the start of the new school year. One is in the Knowledge Commons' locker area, on the first floor of Pattee Library, west, and the other is in the lounge area on the second floor of Paterno Library, near the Research Hub. Both stock an array of supplies — pens, pencils, mini-staplers, permanent markers, highlighters, scientific calculators, index cards, blue books and more. The vending machines also dispense items like jump drives, headphones, ponchos, and pain and allergy medication. Items can only be purchased with a LionCash+ card that has a minimum balance of $30.

Students, faculty and staff can add funds to their LionCash+ cards at “Manage your Accounts”; a MasterCard or Visa credit or debit/credit card is needed. Non-Penn State visitors and resident borrowers can add funds to LionCash+ or library borrower cards (both available at the Commons Services Desk) using Friends of Penn State (FPS) or Short Term Access Accounts for Research (STAAR) accounts. Users with FPS accounts may add funds at a Visitor Station only. Users with STAAR accounts can add funds at any workstation. To add funds, go to LionCash+ cards. Click on the link to the id+ Home Page. On the id+ Home Page, click on the link to Add Funds to Another's Account and follow the instructions for either LionCash+ or Library card.

Questions can be directed to Public Relations and Marketing, Penn State University Libraries, at 814-863-4240.
