Chemical engineering's Dishari receives young investigator award

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Shudipto Dishari, a postdoctoral researcher in chemical engineering, was selected to receive a 2014 Baxter Young Investigator Award.

The award is intended to stimulate and reward research applicable to the development of therapies and medical products that save and sustain patients' lives.

Dishari's research proposal, "Understanding Virus Retention Behavior of Virus Filtration Membranes using Confocal Microscopy for Sterile Bio-therapeutics," investigates the use of membrane filtration for the removal of pathogenic viruses.

She is advised by Andrew Zydney, professor of chemical engineering.

Dishari will receive her award, which includes a cash prize of $2,000, at a ceremony Sept. 18 at Baxter's research and development center in Round Lake, Illinois.
