Trombone Labor Days to kick off School of Music season

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State School of Music's 2014-15 performance season will kick off with Trombone Labor Days from Aug. 30 to Sept. 1, featuring trombone professor Mark L. Lusk, special guests Leonardo Murcia and Charles Ramsey, alumni quartets Nittany Trombone Quartet and Quartastrophe, and members of the Penn State trombone studio.

The three-day event will begin with a conducting recital by studio member Benjamin Firer at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30. Other highlights of Trombone Labor Days include a performance at 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, featuring the guest artists as well as the Penn State Trombone Choir.

Mark L. Lusk will conclude the event with a faculty recital at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 1, his 55th recital since joining the School of Music faculty.

The Penn State trombone studio website offers a full schedule of Trombone Labor Days presentations, masterclasses and performances. All Esber Recital Hall events are free and open to the public.
