UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Two mechanical engineering graduate students took home top honors at the third annual General Electric (GE) Student Research Summit held Aug. 15 in Niskayuna, New York.
The event provides an opportunity for students in science and engineering to share their research while being exposed to the projects and professionalism at GE.
Adrienne Crivaro won first place in the prototyping competition for her research in designing origami structures using active materials.
She was advised by Mary Frecker, professor of mechanical engineering and director of the Bernard M. Gordon Learning Factory, and Tim Simpson, professor of mechanical engineering and industrial engineering.
Corey Anderson received a best poster award for "Time Resolved PIV (particle image velocimetry) Measurements of the Horseshoe Vortex System in Pin Fin Arrays."
He was advised by Stephen Lynch, assistant professor of mechanical engineering.
