Men's basketball to face Charlotte in Charleston Classic opener

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State men’s basketball team will open play in the 2014 Charleston Classic by taking on Charlotte at 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20 on ESPNU. The remaining teams in the field include Akron, Cornell, Drexel, Miami (Fla.), South Carolina and Southern California.

Penn State will face either South Carolina or Cornell on the second day of the three-day event.

The multi-day, destination event will feature 12 games over three days. Each team will compete in one game per day, advancing through a bracketed-tournament format. ESPN3 will have five exclusive games and ESPNU will air four, while the championship game will be shown on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN2. All games will be played at TD Arena in Charleston, on the campus of the College of Charleston.
