Penn State DuBois, in conjunction with the Central Intermediate Unit #10 (CIU #10), will offer a free course in mathematics, beginning in August, for adults who want to brush up on their basic skills.
This refresher course is intended for any adult who wants to improve math skills to help further their education, or simply to advance their abilities for use in everyday life. For those who have considered enrolling, or re-enrolling in college, the course will prepare them for math classes required in most degree programs.
Students in the course will receive an assessment of their math skills at the beginning, and another assessment at the end to determine how much they've learned.
The math improvement course is sponsored by CIU #10, one of 29 regional education delivery organizations in Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania's Intermediate Units are funded by the Department of Education and local school districts. They can provide special education services, student counseling services, staff continuing education opportunities, and program planning assistance to the public and nonpublic schools.
Space is limited for this math improvement program. Classes will meet from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursday beginning Aug. 26, and ending on Dec. 11, in room 204 of the DEF Building at Penn State DuBois. A refundable $100 deposit for textbooks is required, and due on the first day of class.
