Pegula Ice Arena to host blood drive Tuesday

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – To help ensure an adequate blood supply for patients for the rest of the summer, the Pegula Ice Arena, B94.5 Radio, Subway and the State College Spikes have teamed up to host the first blood drive in the Pegula Ice Arena.

The blood drive will be held from 12:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, on the Club Level of the Arena. Donors should enter through Gate A and look for special parking signs for blood donors.

The American Red Cross continues to have an urgent need for blood donations, even as thousands of people answered the urgent call to donate issued on July 22. Through the end of July, the Red Cross saw an increase of approximately 7.5 percent in the number of donors coming to give blood, resulting in more than 11,800 additional donations beyond what was expected.

Pegula Ice Arena will give each donor a free skate pass with the purchase of a second. The State College Spikes will give each donor a free voucher for an upcoming Spikes game. B94.5 will give one lucky donor a pair of WWE wrestling tickets to the Sept. 7 show at the Bryce Jordan Center. Plus all donors will be entered to win a Penn State Hockey collectible basket, and two family four packs of tickets to Del Grosso’s Amusement Park. Subway will provide subs at the canteen.

Donors are encouraged to sign up in advance. If you have not donated whole blood within the past 56 days or made a double red donation within the past 112 days, you may be eligible for this drive. Visit www.redcrossblood.org and use sponsor code: "psu" or search by zip code to make an appointment to donate. For eligibility questions, call 866-236-3276.
