Road projects bring multiple transit changes for week of Aug. 18

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State Transportation Services announced multiple transit changes for the week of Aug. 18.

Several campus and downtown road projects will impact transit routes, beginning Monday, Aug. 18.

College Avenue

Construction and paving on College Avenue will result in the closure of the CATA stops on College Avenue at Atherton Hall, Allen Street and the University Club on Monday, Aug. 18, and Tuesday, Aug. 19.

In addition, the Campus Shuttle stop at College Avenue and Allen Street will also be closed on Monday and Tuesday.

Park Avenue and Curtin Road

Park Avenue will be closed between Atherton Street and Allen Road from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18. This closure will allow crews to complete an urgently-needed tree removal. Prior to Monday’s work, Curtin Road will reopen to facilitate traffic through this area of campus.

As a result of the temporary closure of Park Avenue, the CATA/Campus Shuttle summer detour stops along Park Avenue will be closed on Monday, Aug. 18. The CATA stops at the Pattee Transit Center, the Pavilion Theatre and the Visual Arts Building, along with the Campus Shuttle stops at Pattee Library, Palmer Museum, the Pavilion Theater and the Business Building will also reopen temporarily in place of the Park Avenue stops on Monday, Aug. 18.

The summer detour stops on Park Avenue will reopen on Tuesday, Aug. 19, and will remain open through Friday, Aug. 22.

Beginning Saturday, Aug. 23, all summer detour stops will close permanently and CATA will resume service to all regular stops and begin to observe its Full Service schedule. The Campus Shuttle, Paratransit Shuttle and Hershey Shuttle will return to their normal stops and schedules beginning Monday, Aug. 25.
