Executive course available for business process analysts, enterprise architects

A new offering from Penn State Executive Programs will help professionals enhance and integrate their business and information technology strategies. Business Architecture and Strategic Business Process Management (BPM) will debut on Oct. 14 and 15 at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown in Philadelphia.

The course will provide business process analysts and enterprise architects with a foundational understanding of core business architecture methods and how to apply them to strategic programs and business process initiatives.

“Businesses and government agencies are under pressure from all sides to keep up with customer expectations and changes in the business landscape, but organizational change—particularly when conducted in silos — can be difficult,” said Brian Cameron, faculty director of the program and associate dean for professional master’s programs at Smeal. “Business architecture breaks down the silos to improve the success of change programs in businesses and government agencies.”

The program is a collaboration between Penn State Executive Programs and the University’s College of Information Sciences and Technology, affiliated with Forrester Research. In addition to the faculty director, Gordon Barnett, principal analyst serving enterprise architecture professionals at Forrester Research Inc., will serve as a faculty leader.

“Penn State Executive Programs is able to offer valuable courses by capitalizing on the expertise available both at Smeal and across the University,” said Maria Taylor, director of Penn State Executive Programs. “It is these connections that allow us to provide timely education to executives looking to meet niche business needs.”
