Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence plans workshops

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence will host the following workshops:

-- New Instructor Orientation, a self-paced online program, from Friday, Aug. 22, through Friday, Oct. 3.

This online, self-directed workshop, open to all new instructors at Penn State, is offered at the start of each semester through Angel, Penn State’s course management system. The workshop will provide a brief introduction to the resources and strategies that are crucial to good teaching and planning. Angel access information will be provided to participants via email.

In order to receive a letter of completion, participants will need to complete two assignments. Completion of the New Instructor Orientation satisfies a requirement of the Graduate School Teaching Certificate.

Takeaways from the workshop are strategies for communicating with students and faculty supervisors, and tips on grading effectively and efficiently.
