'Preparing for Higher Education 2030' talk set for Aug. 12

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Center for Online Innovation in Learning will present "Preparing for Higher Education 2030," a Fischer Speaker Series Event featuring George Siemens from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, in Presidents Hall at The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel.

The talk will also be available at http://pspb.org/coil/.

Registration is required at http://wp.me/P3b4X9-E0.

The scope of change accumulating around higher education is significant. Questions exist around the future of work in a robot economy, the role of faculty in a distributed and networked future, and the broad role of universities in a society of easy access to global information and open online courses.

During this event, Siemens, executive director of the Learning Innovation and Networked Knowledge Research Lab at The University of Texas at Arlington, will explore the prominent change pressures building for higher education and present a vision of the role that universities will play in society in the next 20 years.
