Ghadar's recent book on immigration's benefits garners media attention

"Becoming American: Why Immigration is Good for Our Nation’s Future," authored by Fariborz Ghadar, William A. Schreyer Professor of Global Management, Policies, and Planning in Penn State's Smeal College of Business, has garnered much media attention since its release in March of this year.

“I believe the amount of coverage the book has received is indicative of the critical nature of this issue to our country’s future,” said Ghadar.

In addition to book reviews from the Harvard Business School and IEDP.com, Ghadar has contributed a series of opinion pieces to news outlets across the country on immigration reform and immigration’s impact on America’s future.

His opinions have been published in national publications like The Hill, a political website, and World News, as well as in regional publications like the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Roanoke (Va.) Times, and the Buffalo (NY) News.

He also appeared on the television program “Fresh Outlook,” a weekly talk show analyzing key issues affecting the welfare of Americans.

In "Becoming American," Ghadar aims to dispel common immigration myths and explain why immigration is imperative to the United States’ continued prosperity.

Throughout the book, Ghadar argues that immigration strengthens the American economy by drawing the best and brightest individuals from across the world.

Ghadar, himself an immigrant, adds a personal touch to the book by telling his own story as well as sharing narratives of some of our nation’s most successful immigrants.

Ghadar is the director of the Center for Global Business Studies in the Penn State Smeal College of Business. He also is a senior adviser and distinguished scholar at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C. Iranian born, Ghadar became a U.S. citizen in 1979.
