Penn State blog relates how 'Research Matters'

A recent entry in the Research Matters blog focused on a "Research On the Road" event co-sponsored by Penn State's alumni chapter in Puerto Rico, and featuring associate professor of molecular ecology Iliana Baums, right, who presented her research on the Elkhorn coral reefs, followed by a sea excursion to explore the reefs first-hand. Credit: Melissa Beattie MossAll Rights Reserved.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State's Research Matters blog aims to tell interesting stories relating to research and researchers at the University -- directly and occasionally tangentially.

The blog is an informal companion to the news and feature stories produced by the staff of the Research Communications unit in the Office of Strategic Communications. Other research communicators across the University are invited to contribute. Also welcome are readers' comments to individual posts.

Topics have ranged from observations on red-tailed hawks to Burmese pythons, from Evan Pugh Professor of Physics Moses Chan to founding Penn State President Evan Pugh himself.

The latest on Research Matters: Senior science writer A'ndrea Messer, currently on a Penn State archaeological dig at Tel Akko, Israel, offers periodic commentary on her experiences.
