Smeal College faculty, staff mark Corporate Compliance and Ethics Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State Smeal College of Business faculty and staff marked Corporate Compliance and Ethics Week last month with two activities providing opportunities to increase awareness of ethics and compliance at the University.

Corporate Compliance and Ethics Week is a national celebration highlighting the importance of ethics and compliance in the workplace.

A luncheon with Penn State Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer Regis Becker was the first of the week’s events. At the luncheon, Becker provided an update on the state of ethics and compliance at the University and addressed questions.

“We’re looking to engage community members across the University to strengthen our ethical culture. What we’re trying to do is make a great University better,” said Becker.

Smeal faculty and staff were also invited to attend a breakfast with the college’s Human Resources Office and Financial Office as a way to provide clarity and insights into existing policies and procedures.

Corporate Compliance and Ethics Week events were held on behalf of Smeal’s Honor and Integrity initiative, led by Director of Honor and Integrity Jennifer Eury.

“This week’s activities provided our faculty and staff with the opportunity to learn more about the University’s and the college’s commitment to fostering a culture of integrity,” said Eury. “We will continue to build on the momentum from this week in the months ahead.”

Becker added, “We’re excited by Jennifer’s efforts to engage University community members in our efforts to build and maintain an ethical culture.”
