Information Literacy Summit open for registration

Registration is now open for the 2014 PA Forward K–16 Information Literacy Summit “Building Bridges: Extending the Conversation.” This one-day event will be held July 23 in Foster Auditorium, 102 Paterno Library, Penn State University Park. The event will be of interest to librarians and educators interested in discussing critical issues in information literacy. Registration required.

Ellysa Stern Cahoy, Penn State education and behavioral sciences librarian and assistant director of the Pennsylvania Center for the Book, will co-present one of two keynote addresses: “ACRL's Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education: Implications for Practice.” Stern Cahoy, who is vice-chair and chair elect of the ACRL (Association of College & Research Libraries) Instruction Section will be joined by Donna Witek, a University of Scranton librarian and ACRL Information Literacy Standards committee member.

The other keynote presentation is “Library Model Curriculum for PA Schools: Cornerstone Tasks for Assessment” by Eileen Kern, past president of the Pennsylvania School Librarians Association and Allison Mackley, a Hershey High School librarian.

PA Forward is a Pennsylvania Library Association (PaLA) initiative, which aims to help Pennsylvanians improve their essential literacy skills. The initiative focuses on five critical literacies: basic, information, civic and social, health and financial.
