Notterman appointed chair of National Institutes of Health review committee

Dr. Daniel A. Notterman, vice dean for research and graduate studies, and professor of pediatrics, and of biochemistry and molecular biology at Penn State College of Medicine, has been appointed chair and member of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development Initial Review Group’s pediatrics subcommittee.

Notterman has previously served as a member of this subcommittee. His two-year term as chair begins July 1.

Under the National Institutes of Health, the Scientific Review Branch helps review grant applications. The pediatrics subcommittee is one of eight different subcommittees that comprise the initial review process.

The pediatrics subcommittee meets several times a year to review grant submissions in areas such as neonatology, perinatology, endocrinology, metabolism, nutrition and growth, pharmacology, epidemiology, pediatric critical care, pediatric infectious disease and general pediatrics.
