Arts Project series accepting registrations for summer session

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Arts Project at Penn State Lehigh Valley will offer two workshops for adults and teens beginning in June.

Drawing and Design Fundamentals, instructed by Ron De Long, will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays from June 4 to Aug. 6. The class covers basic drawing techniques, which may include graphite pencils, pen and ink, brush and ink, colored pencils, pastels, watercolors, various markers and papers. A variety of drawing surfaces and design concepts will be explored in both the studio and plein aire on occasion at locations to be determined by the instructor. The cost of the course is $225.

Instructor Ann Lalik will offer an Advanced Jewelry and Metalsmithing workshop from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesdays from June 10 to Aug. 12. This class is designed for students who are familiar with the basics of metalsmithing and jewelry making, such as fabricating, casting, finishing and simple stone setting. Students will develop individual ideas and explore new concepts. Technical demonstrations will be offered at the students’ request. The cost of the course is $245.
