Harcar is promoted to professor of marketing at Penn State

Talha Harcar, formerly an associate professor of business at Penn State Beaver, has been promoted to professor of marketing.

Harcar joined the University in 2001 and received the Penn State Beaver Advisory Board Excellence in Research Award in 2010 and 2013. Last month, he was honored by Beaver campus students when he received the 2013-14 Outstanding Academic Adviser Award at the annual campus awards banquet.

His recent publications include co-editing a book, “Advances in Global Research,” with a theme of “Global Competitiveness in a Time of Economic Uncertainty and Social Change: Challenges and Opportunities-Current Issues and Future Expectations.” He co-authored “American Consumers’ Attitudes Toward Different Airline Companies Channels: A Comparison of Transaction Methods,” which appeared in PASOS-Journal of Tourism and Cultural Heritage. In addition, he co-authored three conference proceedings: “Consumer Taste Preferences for Soft Drinks: Country-of-Origin Impact” and “The Determinants of Mobile Advertising Success in Morocco” for Advances in Global Management Development and “User Behavior of Peer-to-Peer Music File Sharing Technology: A Cross-National Comparison of American and Moroccan University Students” for the Business Research Year Book, International Academy of Business Disciplines. Harcar also co-authored “Soccer Club Jersey Sponsorship: Customer Recall and Awareness in the Turkish Super League” in the Business Research Yearbook, International Academy of Business Disciplines.

In 2012, he gave a presentation, “Country of Origin Impact: Taste Preferences for a Soft Drink Brand,” as part of the Penn State Beaver Fall Faculty Speakers Series and last year he took 10 campus students to Turkey for a week during spring break to tour various manufacturing, business and cultural sites.

He holds a doctorate in business administration, and a master’s degree and two bachelor’s degrees in marketing from Istanbul University. He received a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
