Lady Lions sign Dominique Brooks to NLI

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The three-time defending Big Ten Champion Penn State Lady Lions have signed junior college transfer Dominique Brooks (Lansing, Ill./T.F. South/Trinity Valley C.C.) to a National Letter of Intent. Brooks comes to Penn State after two seasons at back-to-back NJCAA National Champion Trinity Valley Community College. She will join the Lady Lions in July and will have two years of eligibility remaining.

"Dominique is a tremendous athlete who will provide some depth for us in the post," Lady Lion head coach Coquese Washington said. "We are really excited to have her join our program."

Brooks, who was the 95th-ranked player by ESPN HoopGurlz coming out of high school in 2012, spent two seasons with the Cardinals. During her time at Trinity Valley, the Cardinals posted a 72-1 record and collected a pair of NJCAA National Championships. Brooks was solid from the field during her junior college career, netting 51.1% of her shots from the floor.

A native of Lansing, Ill., Brooks was the 11th-ranked post player by ESPN HoopGurlz for the class of 2012. She played Thornton Fractional South Senior High School where she was a two-time preseason Northwest Indiana Times Illinois Girls Preseason All-Area team selection. As a junior, Brooks averaged 7.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game with 47 blocks. During her sophomore campaign, she accounted for 10.0 points and 9.4 rebounds. She also blocked 67 shots for the Rebels as a sophomore.

She played AAU for the Illinois X-citement.
