Internal search opens for associate dean of undergraduate and graduate education

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The College of Engineering is conducting an internal search for an associate dean for undergraduate and graduate education.

The position takes over for current Associate Dean Renata Engel, who was named associate vice provost for online programs for Outreach and Online Education on April 3.

The associate dean is primarily responsible for the college’s residence and online undergraduate and graduate educational programs. The position provides collaborative leadership for college-wide support for academic program development and assessment, graduate and undergraduate student recruitment and  retention, diversity and initiatives to enhance curricular and co-curricular experiences.

The successful candidate will be responsible for academic policy implementation and the use of data to examine, understand and improve the undergraduate and graduate student experience.

Candidates are sought who have demonstrated experience in curricular and/or administrative matters, and shown a strong commitment to the success of students.

Other essential skills include a broad knowledge of major issues and trends within higher education that impact undergraduate and graduate engineering education, a proven record of collaboration across units and the ability to manage complex projects.

The associate dean is a member of the dean’s leadership team and will work collaboratively with the dean, associate deans, heads of the college’s departments and schools, the Office of Vice President for Undergraduate Education, the dean of The Graduate School, the Office of the Vice President for Outreach and the Faculty Senate.
